
The government has undertaken a training programme for the garment workers to improve their relationship with the owners of the garment factories. It was disclosed at a training workshop held yesterday, with Labour and Employment Ministry Secretary Ashfaq Hamid in the chair, as part of an initiative to streamline the garments sector. The workshop addressed issues concerning how the midlevel officials can resolve problems of the factories. Among others, joint secretary (Labour), deputy secretary (Labour), labour director, and midlevel officials of BGMEA, BKMEA and garment factories also attended the meeting. Earlier on Tuesday, the government decided to form welfare committee in garment factories to ensure “overall welfare and enhanced living standard” of the workers of the export industry. |
